Over 14,000 descend on Monaghan’s Country Music Festival

Over 14,000 people descended on Monaghan town at the weekend for the annual Country Music Festival.

This was the 5th year of the festival, and the weekend’s line-up included Jimmy Buckley, Michael English and Mike Denver.  The festival has become a focal point for country music lovers since it first came on the scene, and each year, profits from the 4 day event go towards local charities and community groups.

Over the last four years, the festival has raised €150,000 for local charities.  Julie Brannigan, Secretary of the festival says it was originally established to bring a new lease of life into Monaghan town.
