Almost 44,000 people are on hospital waiting lists in the Northern Sound region.
The figures from the National Treatment Purchase Fund show there were over 718,000 people waiting across the country at the end of August.
43,703 people are waiting for inpatient or outpatient appointments in the four hospitals serving this region, Cavan, Drogheda, Navan and Sligo.
The majority of people are waiting for outpatient appointments, with just over 39,000 on that list.
Sligo Regional Hospital has the most waiting, with 15,596 waiting for appointments. That’s followed by Our Lady of Lourdes in Drogheda with 12,989.
Cavan General has 8,252 people on waiting lists for procedures, with another 6,866 in Our Lady’s Navan.
Just over 3,500 people are waiting over a year and a half for an appointment.
In Cavan, the majority of those are waiting for ENT and Orthopaedics appointments.
