Annual Steam Threshing Festival taking place on the Meath/Cavan border

Thousands of people will make their way to Moynalty on the Meath/Cavan border today for the annual Steam Threshing Festival.

This is the 42nd year of the event, which kicks off in the Moynalty Steam Threshing Museum and parkland in the heart of the village.

The festival aims to celebrate the practices and traditions of years gone past, with demonstrations on horse and steam power threshing, traditional crafts, and traditional cooking.

Around 35,000 made their way to the festival last year, and Ronan Gaynor – PRO with the Festival – says it all started from humble beginnings.
