In the Allianz Hurling league we’ll have a full time report from Robert McConn on Roscommon versus Down in Division 2B with Roscommon hoping to bounce back after defeat last weekend to Wicklow.
In Division 3A Monaghan will be hoping to follow up their victory over Tyrone with a home win over Donegal. Alan Gunn will be updating us on the game with throw in at 2pm. In Division 3B a derby match will see Martin Cunniffes Leitrim open their campaign with a game against Ray Gavins Longford who had a big win last weekend in their opening match. PJ Leddy will be reporting for us from Carrick On Shannon.
We’ll be at grounds across the country for the Ladies Lidl Sponsored football league. Paula Cunninghams Monaghan take on Galway in Division one. Adian McCabes Cavan are away from home and they face Kildare in Division two. In Division 3 Offaly come up against Leitrim managed by Cavan man Philip Brady. And in Divison Four James Dalys Longford are at home to Derry.
In the Mens grade it’s a big day for the Monaghan Under 21 footballers as Monaghan after winning their semi final on Wednesday play Derry in the Shamrock Cup Under 21 Final. Pauric Clerkin will be providing updates on that game in Cremartin.
In Local Soccer we’ll have report and reaction from our soccer Correspondant Tony Ghee on last nights game between the Roscommon and District League and the Monaghan/Cavan league in Lecarrow with a place in the quarter finals of the Oscar Traynor Cup at stake.
From 4pm in Domestic soccer we’ll be looking ahead to the League of Ireland season which kicks off next week. Longford Town PRO Donald Keogh will be in studio as Alan Mathews side prepare for life in the First division after being relegated last season. Sports journalist Deniese OFlaherty will also be in studio to asses the season ahead including Dundalks chances of retaining the title and hopes for clubs in European competiton after Dundalks success last year in the Europa league.
Sports Journalist John Dingle will focus on how Athlone Town could fare this year in the first division and Soccer journalist Liam Maloney will bring us the latest on Premier division side Sligo Rovers who will be hoping to return to form this year after a blip from their expectations in the last campaign. Journalist Pauric Clerkin will also join presenter Benny OBrien in looking ahead to Stephen Kennys Dundalks prospects for the year ahead.
Then after 5pm the show will return to the stories of the sporting day including reports and reaction from all the big games across the shannonside northern sound region.
