Call made for hospitals to axe parking fees for cancer patients

Hospitals are coming under pressure to provide parking spaces free of charge to cancer patients and their families.

A report on parking charges from the Irish Cancer Society revealed costs of up to €63 a week for cancer patients, on top of the huge out-of-pocket payments cancer patients already face.

A motion was put forward at the Monaghan Council meeting on Monday by Sinn Fein Councillor Sean Conlon to axe hospital car parking charges for cancer patients.  Councillor Conlon spoke to Northern Sound News, he outlined the reasons why he put forward the motion.
