The Diocese of Clogher will today celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of the ordination of Carrickmacross native Cannon Patrick Lonergan.
Fr. Paddy Lonergan was ordained to the priesthood 60 years ago in St Joesph’s Church in Carrickmacross, and has since served in a number of parishes throughout Fermanagh and Tyrone. Cannon Lonergan is also known for his G.A.A talents, having played for Devenish G.A.A club for 16 years, as well as serving on Fermanagh County Board the Ulster Council.
Gary Carville from the Clogher Diocese Office says Father Lonergan was always heavily involved in the local community. Meanwhile, tonight’s celebration takes place in the Church of Our Lady, Queen of Peace in Garrison at 7pm.
