County Monaghan town included in Historic Towns Initiative

A County Monaghan town has been selected as one of seven in Ireland to receive funding for heritage projects.

Minister for Culture, Heritage and Gaeltacht, Josepha Madigan announced that Castleblayney would be one of the towns to receive some of the €1 million announced under the Historic Towns Initiative.

The initiative aims to support heritage-led regeneration in towns that have significant cultural assets and a distinctive sense of place. The government says that heritage-led initiatives will create tourism and bring economic benefits to towns.
