Creative Cavan Programme being launched this evening

The official launch of the Creative Cavan Programme will take place this evening.

Creative Ireland is a five-year initiative, from 2017 to 2022, which aims to increase people’s involvement in arts and culture.

The national plan was launched by former Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Minister for Culture Heather Humphreys at an event in Dublin Castle recently.

Tonight’s local launch will feature poetry, arts and crafts and music, including a performance by the Castletown Accordion Orchestra.

The launch will take place this evening in St. Killian’s Heritage Centre in Mullagh at 7.30pm.

Cavan County Librarian Tom O’Sullivan spoke to Northern Sound News ahead of this evenings launch.

He described Heather Humphrey’s appointment as Minister for Culture as “a huge step forward”.
