The debate on the 8th amendment is coming to Co Monaghan today.
The Pro Life Campaign is holding a public meeting in Castleblayney tonight.
Last week the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar confirmed that a referendum on the 8th amendment will take place sometime next year.
The aim of tonight’s Pro Life meeting is to update the public on the current situation as regards the right to life of the unborn and their mothers.
The campaign says that fresh perspectives and new ideas will be discussed for the movement.
Clare Lanigan is a pro-choice volunteer with the ‘Abortion Rights Campaign’ and wants to repeal the 8th amendment. She says every woman should have the choice on whether they need an abortion of not.
However, Pro-life campaigner Sinéad Slattery says it’s not as simple as giving women a choice.
Tonight’s pro-life meeting takes place in the Glencarn Hotel in Castleblayney at 7.30pm.
