Dementia talks locally as part of Alzheimer’s Awareness Month

A series of talk is taking place around Cavan and Monaghan as part of Alzheimer Awareness Month.

Alzheimer’s Awareness Month aims to raise awareness of the disease – and also aims to challenge the stigma that still surrounds dementia.  According to the last Census, there are around 55,000 people in Ireland living with a form of dementia.

Meave Montgomery is the Dementia Advisor for Cavan and Monaghan, and she’s giving a series of talks on this disease this month.  This Friday at 11am she’ll be in the Íontas centre to discuss the issue of eating and dementia.  She explains some of the challenges she’ll be addressing.
