A local man is looking for the public’s help in compiling a list of defibrillators across County Cavan.
John Monaghan from Kilcogy Community First Responders believes it’s vital to know the location of the nearest defibrillator which is used in the instance of a heart attack or a cardiac arrest. Defibrillators are portable devices used to deliver a dose of electric current to the heart of people who are experiencing cardiac episodes.
There has in recent years been a significant increase in the number of defibrillators in Ireland. Sporting venues, schools, hotels, restaurants, businesses and shopping centres now have such devices on their premises.
John Monaghan spoke on today’s Wider View programme, he explained the importance of knowing the location of your nearest defibrillator in the case of an emergency.
