€47,000 in funding has been announced for First Responder Groups in Cavan and Monaghan.
The allocation, made to four local groups, comes under Measure 3 of CLÁR.
The Search and Recovery Unit of Monaghan Sub Aqua Club is to receive €26,500 to buy a new van.
Knockatallon Community Development has been allocated almost €7,000 to buy equipment, with Annyalla Cremartin Community First Responders receiving €4,250 for a new defibrillator.
The Cavan branch of the Irish Community Rapid Response Group is to receive almost €10,000 for the purchase of new equipment – it’s the only group in Cavan to receive funding under Measure 3.
The announcement is being welcomed by local TD Heather Humphreys.
€1.2 million for life-saving equipment will be shared among 70 volunteer groups.
It’s been approved by the Minister for Rural and Community Development, Michael Ring.
But he admits organisations will have to spend their own money before they’re reimbursed:
