Former Fine Gael TD Seán Conlan is to be sentenced next month for an assault in his family’s pub in 2015.

The 42 year old from Ballybay pleaded not guilty to the charges.

He was convicted at Monaghan District Court before Christmas on charges that he assaulted Enda Duffy of Annahia, Ballybay in a pub in August of 2015.

Mr Duffy sustained an injury when Seán Conlan struck him with a broken glass.

The former Fine Gael TD resigned from the party before the last election, before losing his seat in 2016.

He’s to be sentenced on February 7th and faces a maximum of 12 months in prison or a fine of up to €1,900.
