Four road fatalities recorded in Co Cavan so far this year

Councillor John Paul Feeley claims some drivers do not adhere to the rules of the road.

A recent meeting of Cavan Joint Policing Committee heard there has been four road fatalities in the county so far this year.

Chief Superintendent Alan McGovern told those gathered that three of the four collisions occurred on the N3 - at Bailieborough, Belturbet, and Ballyjamesduff.

The meeting also heard there has been 15 serious injuries as a result of road traffic collisions in Cavan in 2022 - up 2 on 2020.

Meanwhile, JPC chairman, Cllr John Paul Feely, said there was a "a very relaxed" attitude by some drivers to the rules of the road.

He added there also appeared to be cars with no functioning indicators.
