Gardai are questioning 2 men in connection with a skimming operation by an Eastern European gang.
It’s believed criminals targeted ATMs at bank branches in Dublin, Kildare and Meath.
Gardai from Kildare and the National Economic Crime Bureau at Harcourt Square had been working closely with a bank after 8 different branches were targeted with this skimming operation in counties Dublin, Kildare and Meath.
The breakthrough in the case came after a device was used on a bank ATM in Kildare town yesterday.
This morning two men in their 30s were arrested in Blanchardstown in Dublin, a move described as a significant development in this case.
Skimming devices and credit cards were recovered at the scene of the arrests.
The two men are being questioned at Newbridge and Kildare Garda Stations.
They can be held there for up to 24 hours.
