The Government needs to focus on clamping down on speed and not drink driving.

Fintan from Drung says speed is the main cause of crashes on Irish roads. It comes as the Transport Minister Shane Ross’s legislation to introduce stricter drink driving laws is currently passing through the Oireachtas.

The Bill also strengthens penalties for car owners who allow unaccompanied learner drivers on the road in their vehicles and provides for the seizure of cars used by lone learner permit holders. Fintan spoke on today’s Joe Finnegan Show and said he has sympathy for people living in rural Ireland who have one or two drinks and drive home.
