A Cavan man and his family are fundraising for cancer treatment for him in the US.

Declan Ferguson from Lavey was diagnosed with Stage 4 abdominal cancer in March, with doctors saying palliative care was his only option and he’d be lucky to make it to Christmas.

Since then, he’s travelled to the United States to undergo aggressive chemotherapy, which he says has shrunk the tumour enough to allow him undergo surgery to remove it.

In the time he’s been in Florida, Declan’s wife Louise has given birth to twins – they turned 12 weeks old recently.

The family has set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for the cancer treatment Declan’s received in Florida.

He’s hoping to raise €190,000, with almost €50,000 already raised.
