‘Kilcogy incident highlights need for legislation for life-saving equipment’

Damage caused to a defibrillator in Kilcogy in County Cavan, illustrates the need for legislation to be enacted immediately.

That’s according to Senator Keith Swanick who published the Life Saving Equipment Bill 2017, which could jail or fine those convicted of tampering with a life saving device.  The legislation is due to be debated in the coming weeks.

The defibrillator box in Kilcogy was damaged recently, meaning the defibrillator is removed until the box is repaired.  Local Fianna Fáil Councillor for the area Philip Brady says it leaves the community in a vulnerable situation.
