Local Councillor criticises new GDPR rules

Recently introduced data protection rules have been described as ‘wrong’ because of the effect they have on the work of County Councillors.

Fine Gael’s Peter McVitty this week raised the issue and called for changes to allow Councillors raise personal issues faced by their constituents.

The GDPR rules came into force across the European Union in May, with a lengthy warning period for businesses and individuals who had to make changes.
