Local councillor says CCTV security is worth losing privacy

‘While CCTV does compromise privacy, it will be crucial in tackling unprovoked attacks in the town.’

That’s according to local Sinn Fein councillor Brian McKenna explaining how he came around to the idea of introducing CCTV in Monaghan town.

Earlier this week, a grant-aid scheme was announced to assist in the establishment of community-based CCTV systems aimed at the prevention and reduction of local crime.

At the most recent County Monaghan Joint Policing Meeting members expressed their support for the pursual of grant-aid to fund community CCTV in Monaghan.
