A local MEP has condemned violence against the Rohingyas minority in Burma/Myanmar.
Vice president of the European Parliament, Mairead McGuinness has hit out at “indiscriminate attacks against unarmed civilians including women and children”.
A military crackdown against the Rohingya ethic group has driven hundreds of thousands of people from their homes in Myanmar.
For centuries the Rohingya have faced violence from the Buddhist majority in the country.
MEP McGuinness has called on all EU leaders to condemn the acts and to work with the international community to bring an end to the atrocities.
