Local students help the Castle Leslie Estate go green

The Castle Leslie Estate has enlisted the help of a local primary school in going green.

The historic Monaghan estate has decided to opt for compostable cups which will allow guests to help the environment.

Local primary school students designed the cups which are expected to replace almost 10,000 non-compostable cups each year.

The estate has also launched a biodegradable straw initiative where straws made from ground up seashells will be used.

Other local businesses are being urged to follow suit and join in the charge to cut out plastic.
