Urgent funding is needed to upgrade and refurbish the Emergency Department at Cavan General Hospital.
That’s according to Fianna Fáil TD for Cavan/Monaghan Niamh Smyth.
Figures recently released revealed an average of 91 people attended the Emergency Department in Cavan every day last year.
Deputy Smyth says while the nurses, doctors, porters and administration staff at the hospital are doing phenomenal work, – the current facilities are in need of upgrading.
She says Cavan General is under severe pressure and is calling on Minister Harris to allocate funding to carry out upgrade works and refurbishment in light of these staggering figures.
