Local TD concerned by delays in processing applications for certain welfare payments

A local TD says she’s concerned by delays in processing applications for certain welfare payments in the Department of Social Protection.

Fianna Fail Deputy Niamh Smyth received information recently that shows people are being forced to wait months to access Carer’s Allowance.

According to the local deputy, the current turnaround time for applications for the Carer’s Allowance to be processed is 13 weeks or 3 months.

Deputy Smyth says people shouldn’t have to wait months to access basic social welfare payments.
