Louth man shot dead in suspected carjacking in Mexico

An Irish man has reportedly been killed in a suspected car jacking in Mexico.

The 29 year old man, originally from Co Louth, was travelling with his girlfriend who is from the US.

It’s understood he was involved in a car-jacking incident in Lazaro Cardenas in the State of Michoacán.

Local media reports he was alive for a number of hours after being shot, but couldn’t get help from passersby.

The Department of Foreign Affairs says it’s aware of the case and is providing consular assistance to the family.
