McGleenan stays on as Cavan manager

The Cavan minors will take on Kerry in the All Ireland Semi Final on Sunday in Croke Park. This week it was confirmed that the Cavan seniors will be led by manager Mattie McGleenan for a second season.

Cavan had three games in the championship this season with a win over Offaly in the qualifers and narrow defeats to Neighbours Monaghan in the Ulster championship and Tipperary in the All Ireland qualifers. The Cavan side will compete in division two of the Allianz football league next season.

Tyrone man Mattie McGleenan took over the job after successfully steering Scotstown to the Monaghan senior championship. He introduced many new players to the set up and they notably defeated Tyrone in the Doctor McKenna Cup in their first win over that county in 17 years.

Trainer Finbar O’Reilly and strength and conditioning coach Eoin Maguire will not be continuing in their roles for the upcoming season.
