The Minister for Communications will today meet with groups opposing the North South Interconnector.
It’s the first time a Communications Minister will meet with the opposition groups, in relation to Eirgrid’s North South Interconnector.
Representatives from Cavan, Monaghan and Meath County Council will travel to Dublin this morning for the meeting with Minister Denis Naughten in Leinster House.
Sinn Fein Councillor in Monaghan Noel Keelan says Councillors from this region will get the opportunity this morning to impress upon the Minister, the importance of undergrounding the project.
He also says Minister Naughten must take the issue seriously.
Meanwhile a Monaghan Councillor says he’s “very disappointed” to hear that Minister Heather Humphreys has never brought up the issue of the North South Interconnector at Cabinet level.
Minister Heather Humphreys met with members of Monaghan County Council on Monday evening this week in Carrickmacross to discuss their concerns surrounding the proposed interconnector.
