Local Minister Heather Humphreys has praised the efforts of Monaghan County Council in enhancing and developing its new build programme.
It’s after local representatives and members of the local authority were in Plàs Lorcàin on the Dublin Road this morning for the official turning of the sod for 43 new homes under the Rebuilding Ireland initiative.
Speaking at the sod turning for a new 43 home scheme in Latlurcan, Minister for Business congratulated Monaghan County Council on bringing this scheme to site.
Over the course of 2018 and 2019, 43 new families and individuals will come to call Latlurcan Place their home.
Minister Heather Humphreys spoke to Northern Sound News earlier at the sod turning, she says the Rebuilding Ireland initiative is working locally.
Earlier this month, the announcement of 17 new social houses in Smithborough village was described as a positive step in helping people on the housing waiting list in the county.
According to figures provided by Monaghan County Council to Northern Sound News recently, there are over 1,100 (1,133) applicants on the housing list in the county.
Chief Executive of the local authority in Monaghan Eamonn O’Sullivan says more work is being done to get people off the housing waiting list in the county.
