A Monaghan woman has been named International Person of the Year.
Human rights campaigner Ifrah Ahmed scooped the accolade at the 43rd People of the Year Awards which are organised by Rehab. The dual Irish-Somalian citizen runs the Ifrah Foundation which is a leading international campaign against female genital mutilation.
Ifrah’s foundation is based in Glaslough and has been recognised for improving the lives of people in Ireland and around the world. Ifrah Ahmed spoke to Northern Sound about her foundation after being named International Person of the Year last night in Dublin:
