Calls for the time of St. Patrick's Day Parade in Cavan Town to be changed « Go Back
Mar 10 2010

It's understood a number of publicans in Cavan Town are calling for the time of the St. Patrick's Day parade to be changed from 12.30 to a later stage.

A spokesperson for the parade's committee says it's not possible to change the time for a number of reasons. It's felt the parade which is running at the same time for the past 11 years is a family event and suits parents with young children.

Secondly, a number of bands are expected to travel from outside the county for the event and it's believed the earlier time suits them- as they leave Cavan to perform in other afternoon parades across the country.

However, the PRO of the St. Patrick's Day Parade's committee says to change the time means the festival will loose a number of high profile bands.

The voluntary committee is to meet after this year's event -where a final decision will be made.
