An Bord Pleanála have announced today that despite opposition, a new Tesco superstore will be built in Cavan town.
However, the permission has been given the go ahead – based on a number of conditions.
In December 2011, Cavan Town Council granted permission for the 50,000 square foot store to go ahead at Tullymongan Lower.
However, due to a number of submissions from the public – the application has been under the review of An Bord Pleanála since early 2012.
This morning the Board approved permission for the superstore to go ahead – based on a number of conditions.
These include stipulations regarding the pedestrian route on the western side of the site – which now must remain open 24 hours a day to provide linkage between the development and the Town Centre.
Other regulations outlined by An Bord Pleanála state that no more than 250 car parking spaces can be built, while the convenience area within the store cannot exceed 3000 square metres.
A full list of the conditions is available on the Boards website at www.pleanala.ie.
