« BackKingscourt gets patrol car

garda carAfter a series of burglaries and one high-profile bank robbery, the town of Kingscourt now has its own patrol car back in operation.

The town – which is located east of the county, close to Meath, has been without a car for over 12 months – and has been relying on neighbouring towns Bailieborough and Navan for a squad car.

In November, the Minister for Defence Alan Shatter sanctioned a fleet of 170 new garda vehicles to be assigned to stations throughout the country.

Local Sergeant Dave Burke collected the car yesterday and it’s now in operation.

The community of Virginia in Co Cavan also had its car reinstated last week.

Speaking on today’s News90, local Fine Gael Councillor David Blake says Kingscourt has also taken a number of other measures to prevent crime.
