The Minister for the Environment says LEADER companies in this region are to blame for the cuts in funding. Phil Hogan claims the groups did not come forward with viable projects in 2012 and that is why LEADER companies in this region have been subjected to funding cuts of 18.9%.
The Minister was speaking in Carrickmacross after he officially opened the Civic Offices in the outskirts of the town this morning.
In the past number of weeks, there has been outrage that this region’s funding has been cut, while groups in the South of Ireland have seen allocations increase up to 158%. But speaking to Northern Sound, Phil Hogan says he has rewarded companies who put their projects forward.
The Minister added that there are still opportunities for LEADER companies in Cavan/ Monaghan.
