« BackParents urged not to resort to money lenders

Money EuroCavan and Monaghan parents are being urged not to resort to money lenders for special occasions.

In the run-up to the communion and confirmation season, the Money Advice and Budgetary Services (MABS) is advising families not to submit to pressure and take a practical approach by managing carefully household funds.

It comes as some people with bad credit ratings are using money lenders to gain credit.

Michael Cullotty of MABS says although credit is needed, the interest rates from money lenders will be costly at a later stage.
