« BackShock at reduction of day care services

carers association logoFamily carers of young adults with profound disabilities say they are ‘shocked and outraged’ following news that day care services at Stewart’s Hospital in Dublin will be reduced from September.

The Carers Association says the HSE has informed the parent’s of 11  young adults that the service will be replaced with community care -which will be provided 10 days per month but with no transportation provided.

The Palmerstown facility provides physiotherapy, occupational therapy, education and one to one training along with social activities five days per week.

The HSE has yet to confirm the news – but the Head of Communications with the Carers Association, Catherine Cox say’s it has been contacted by a number of very concerned parents of service users.
