No room for complacency despite progress rate of Action Plan for Rural Development

‘There’s no room for complacency despite the progress rate of the Action Plan for Rural Development.’

That’s according to Michael Ring – Minister for Rural and Community Development, as he outlined the progress of the action plan at the Virginia Show yesterday.

The Action Plan for Rural Development was launched in January of this year and contains 276 actions to support the economic and social progress of rural Ireland.

These include measures to support and create sustainable communities, enterprise and employment, and maximising our rural tourism potential.

Of the 276 Actions in the Action Plan, 202 were either due for delivery in the first half of 2017.

Minister Ring says the majority of these were either completed on scheduele or are in the progress of being completed – with just seven actions delayed.

Speaking to Northern Sound News at the Virginia Show yesterday, Minister Michael Ring says “we should be talking up rural Ireland, instead of talking it down”.
