A number of teenagers were arrested for drink driving offences last weekend in County Monaghan.
Local Gadraí and PSNI in the north carried out a cross border operation targeting drink driving in the Carrickmacross district.
Last Saturday night between midnight and 5am, 5 arrests for drink driving were made by Gardaí in Monaghan.
There were also two arrests made for drink driving the following afternoon in the district.
The age range of culprits was between 16 and 43, and included a number of teenagers.
Inspector Kevin Gavigan of the Monaghan Traffic Corps says it was surprised that those caught were so young, and so far over the legal limit.
Inspector Gavigan says Gardaí are preparing for another major operation this weekend in the county.
