People in ‘at-risk’ groups are being urged to get the flu vaccine.
It comes as the number of flu related calls to GPs reached the highest level reported since 2011.
New figures also estimate that there have been 11 deaths so far this year from the flu.
Several community hospital and nursing units throughout Cavan and Monaghan have closed to admissions and have restricted visiting due to the current flu outbreak.
