Storm Hector to hit Cavan and Monaghan tonight

Storm Hector is expected to bring winds of up to 125 kilometres an hours in parts of the country.

Met Éireann has issued two weather warnings for the south and northwest.

A status orange alert and a status yellow wind warning have been issued for 10 counties and will remain in place until 10 o’clock tomorrow morning.

A yellow warning is in place for Cavan, Monaghan, Leitrim, Longford, Meath and Louth – gusts of up to 110 km/h can be expected across the region overnight.
