TD concerned at slow progress in Brexit talks, urges preparation for all outcomes

We can’t do enough to prepare for Brexit according to one local TD.

The British Government yesterday published a white paper outlining its policy for Brexit, which has been broadly welcomed here.

However, while local Fianna Fáil Deputy Brendan Smith says the document is to be welcomed, it doesn’t contain an explicit guarantee on the backstop arrangement on Northern Ireland.

It’s hoped that negotiations can now be finalised ahead of an October meeting of the European Council.
