Temperatures set to drop across Cavan and Monaghan – snow likely

Motorists are urged to take care on the roads today and over the next few days.

Wind-blown debris is likely on roads across Cavan and Monaghan this morning, with a yellow warning for wind in place for some parts of the country.

High sided vehicles should take care and all motorists should be mindful of cyclists and pedestrians.

Meanwhile, a status yellow warning for snow and ice warning is in place for Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Connacht and Leinster from tonight.

The forecaster says very cold wintry weather will develop overnight, with snow and sleet likely on lower ground tomorrow.
