Motorists are being warned to drive with caution as a status yellow snow and ice warning has been issued for Cavan and Monaghan.
Met Eireann have also issued the warning for Connacht, Leinster and Donegal with very cold wintry weather expected to develop from Wednesday night onwards.
Motorists are being urged to take all necessary precautions to be winter ready as the heaviest of the snow fall is most likely over Ulster, Connacht, north Leinster and west Munster.
People are being warned to plan their route, allow extra time for their journey and drive slowly.
