New figures show the number of people unemployed in Monaghan has fallen by more than 18 per cent over the past year.
According to the Central Statistics Office, there were 3,080 people on the Live Register in November 2018, compared to only 2,519 last month.
The month-on-month figure also fell, with 2,623 unemployed in October.
There has been a 15-per-cent decrease in Cavan over the past 12 months, from 3,849 to 3,283, while the month-on-month figure fell by 47.
But Monaghan councillor Seamus Treanor claims the figures don’t give a full picture of the local economy.
