Twenty cottage markets are set to open this year around the country.
Cottage markets aim to assist communities to develop from the inside out, so that each village or town creates a market that reflects the diverse skills and interests of its local people.
Last month communities were invited to apply for funding for the initiative to establish and run their own Cottage Market.
Communities in Coolshannagh in Monaghan town and Ballyconnell in Cavan were successful in their funding.
The cottage market in Monaghan is expected to host their first market in May, while Ballyconnell will host their first market in July.
They say it will bring communities together with a common goal to showcase & market their produce, and to offer a real social occasion with local musicians and story tellers.
