It could be 2018 before work begins on the Milltown Sewage Scheme

It could be 2018 before work begins on the Milltown Sewage Scheme in county Monaghan.

That’s “the worst case scenario” according to Minister Damien English.

He was responding to a question from local Senator Robbie Gallagher, who said the risk of pollution in the area is high, due to below standard septic tanks and the close proximity of the Blackwater River.

Local residents have formed an action group to campaign and work towards connecting the village with the main Monaghan sewage scheme.

Speaking to Northern Sound News, Robbie Gallagher paid tribute to the work of local residents.
