3 All Stars for Cavan

Cavan have claimed 3 PwC GPA/GAA All stars with Raymond Galligan as many expected named as goalkeeper of the year.

He has been joined by his cousin Thomas Galligan who picked up an award at midfield with Padraig Faulkner named at full back.

The 3 all stars would be seen as just reward for Cavan lifting the Anglo Celt cup of the first time since 1997 after overcoming Donegal in the Ulster final towards the end of last year.

Michael Grahams side came from the preliminary round with an extra time 1 point victory over Monaghan followed by wins over Antrim and Down to make the decider.

Dublins dominance of the championship has been reflected in the awards with 9 players included.

Mick Fitzsimons has been named at left half back with Oisin Mullin of Mayo one of 2 from the beaten All Ireland finalists to be included on the opposite corner.

James Mc Carthy, John Small and Eoin Murchan make it a Dublin lock out in the half back line with Brian Fenton at Midfield.

Niall Scully, Ciaran Killkenny and Con O’Callaghan are in the half forward line with Cillian O’Connor of Mayo, Conor Sweeney of Tipperary and Dean Rock of Dublin making up the full forward line.

The Hurling team of the year, will be announced at a live virtual presentation on Saturday night as well as the football and young footballer of the year.
