325 new cases of Covid-19 in Ireland

Covid-19 has claimed a further 17 lives in the Republic, while 325 new cases have been confirmed.

71 people have now died here from the virus. The total number of cases nationally now stands at 3,235.

Cavan’s number of confirmed cases has passed 30, with 31 people in the county being diagnosed.

13 people in Monaghan have been confirmed as having Covid-19.

Six more people have died from Coronavirus in the North, bringing the total there to 28 deaths.

53 new positive cases have also been recorded – the total number of cases in Northern Ireland is now 586.

The figures came as the Tanaiste Simon Coveney, Northern Secretary Brandon Lewis and the North’s First and Deputy First Minister’s discussed the pandemic in a conference call.
