Two additional posts have been created to help deal with the backlog in assessment of needs appointments in Cavan and Monaghan.
There have been long delays for families in the Northern Sound region waiting for appointments for occupational therapy, physiotherapy and speech and language therapy.
Barnardos last month said 100 children have been waiting up to eight months for an assessment.
Local TD Brendan Smith says he’s been told by the HSE that two additional officers have been allocated to deal with the backlog.
He’s described the news as a “very welcome development”.
