AGSI conference opening in Ballyconnell today but controversy over Garda investigation

There’s good trust in the Gardaí and people value the service they provide, according to the head of the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors.

The AGSI is holding its annual conference in Ballyconnell over the next three days with the Justice Minister and Garda Commissioner expected to address delegates.

However there’s controversy, with two senior members of the organisation not attending after it emerged a member of the AGSI is under investigation after a complaint that they may have taken on prohibited spare-time employment.

AGSI President Cormac Moylan will open the conference in the Slieve Russell Hotel in Ballyconnell this afternoon. He told Northern Sound News that people still have faith in the Gardaí:
