Almost €50,000 paid out locally in fines for breaking learner and novice driver laws in 2018 and 2019

Motorists in the Northern Sound region paid almost €50,000 in fines for breaking learner and novice driver laws in the space of two years.

373 penalties were settled last year – an increase of almost a third on 2018.

Fines of €30,110 were paid out by motorists in Cavan/Monaghan in 2019 for breaking learning and novice driver laws.

373 penalties were settled in Cavan/Monaghan last year, a marked increase on 2018, when €19,510 in fines was paid out across 250 offences.

Nationwide, over €1.1 million was paid out in fines across 2018 and 2019 for offences involving learner and novice drivers.
